An interesting article appeared in the InsideHigherEd.com newsletter. It was the title caught my attention! FISH TO PROFS: STICK TO TEACHING. I could just visualize one of those mounted ’singing catfish’ talking to a group of professors! The article, of course, was more serious. The premise - “Should we be worried about politics creeping into the classroom?

“In a new book to be published this month by Oxford University Press, (Stanley) Fish, the Davidson-Kahn Distinguished University Professor of Humanities and Law at Florida International University, argues that instructors need to approach their jobs narrowly — and to, as the title implies, Save the World on Your Own Time.”

It is an interesting article that has implications not only to college profs but also to teachers at all grade levels.
