The last time the postage rates went up and they introduced the ‘forever’ stamps I thought that was a little crazy. Perhaps it wasn’t! Well at least the rate is going up only a penny for a first class stamp. Looks like to me, the ease (and versatility) of email and even texting would make it a more competitive field but maybe not. OR perhaps they are raising the price to make up for the loss due to these alternative modes of communication.

In defense of the post office they seem to provide good service to me. I sell a few books on Amazon (as ‘Jeff4Books’.com) and usually ship by ‘media mail’. The track record of quick delivery is pretty good even for this ’slow’ method.

Back to the increase…I learned about the increase from a blog entry from World Almanac’s Blog, New Postage Rates part 2. The actual USPS announcement can be found on their Website.

As far as printing postage for my Amazon packages I use Endicia. It works very well for what I do.
