My brother lives in Columbia S.C. and invited me to come down tomorrow to attend the S.C. Book Festival there. It looks like it is going to be great! I am really looking forward to it. I will post an entry about my experience later!
Interested in finding ‘book sales’? Check out Book Sale Finder .com! It takes a little scrolling to figure it out but, hey, it is fun finding sales in remote places!
This is not about book festivals, but Festival Network Online is an interesting site where you can learn about music festivals, craft shows, art festivals & fairs in the US and Canada. You do have to pay for expanded information but you may be able to find the information you need via an Internet search, a phone call or a newspaper. (Thanks to KimKomando.com for this suggestion)

Follow-up RSS Comments Feed or Leave a TrackbackI attended the SC Book Festival in Columbia with my brother. It was interesting and enjoyable.
The Festival was held in the Columbia Convention Center. There was a large exhibit hall with booths featuring various publishers and bookstores. It was by far primarily small presses. The large publishers were not really represented. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t interesting. It gave me a chance to see a lot of books that I never would have been aware of before. And everyone was very friendly and ready to talk about books!
The Festival also featured many workshops and talks by various authors. We only went to the Festival’s exhibit,so I can’t comment on the workshops and speakers, but the schedule showed a lot of interesting events.
The Humanities Council of SC sponsors the Festival. It has been held for several year now. I know there have been some financial issues each year with holding The Festival again, but each year they have managed to pull it off! And it’s been great!
There is a website - http://www.scbookfestival.org -that tells all about the festival. As of this morning (3-3-08), the website still completely featured this year’s Festival, which was in February. I could not find the dates for the ‘09 Festival, but I’m sure it will be updated soon. Keep checking the website and then put it on your calendar!
You can become a “Friend of SC Book Festival” and help assure that the Festival will be held each year. “Friends” tax-deductible gifts begin at $25.00 and can be made online at the website.
